What does the Working at Height course cover?
Falls from height remain one of the biggest causes of serious injury and death at work in the UK, and the law treats them accordingly. This online working at height training course explains what the Work at Height Regulations 2005 ask of employers and employees, and how to plan work so that nobody gets hurt. The definition is wider than most people expect. It is not about how far you climb, it is about how far you could fall, so a job beside a deep trench counts just as much as one on a scaffold. Falling tools and materials are part of the picture too, because anything dropped from height puts the people below at risk.
The course works through the dangers, the duties held by everyone involved, and the hierarchy of control that sits at the heart of the regulations. Avoid work at height where you can, prevent falls where you cannot, and reduce the consequences if a fall does happen. Risk assessment and the selection of suitable equipment are covered along the way.
Eleven modules add up to around 105 minutes of training, each with a short test and a 70 percent pass mark. The course is CPD, IIRSM and Gatehouse Awards approved. Bear in mind this is an awareness course. Anyone whose duties include working at height will also need practical training, which we can help you arrange.

How long does the Working at Height course take?

Is working at height training a legal requirement?
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require employers to make sure anyone working at height is competent to do so. This awareness course supports that duty, and anyone whose role involves actual work at height will also need practical training.
How is the course assessed?
Each module ends with a short test and the pass mark is 70 percent. If you fall short you can review the module and try again.
How long does the certificate last?
There is no fixed expiry set in law. Many employers refresh working at height training regularly, and it makes sense to retrain whenever equipment, tasks or roles change.
Can I book the course for my whole team?

How these courses are delivered
We work in partnership with VideoTile Learning to deliver online IOSH Approved Working Safely and Managing Safely. The courses are delivered via their platform. As an agent for these courses we are not directly approved by or associated with IOSH.
IATP, CPD, IIRSM, IFE, ILM and IOSH approved courses are owned and delivered by VideoTile Learning Ltd and are distributed under licence.
Laser, ETA and IOSH Qualifications are examined via VideoTile Learning Ltd.
Refunds and cancellation
- Courses are supplied by VideoTile Learning Ltd. Your purchase is with them, and their terms and refund policy apply to it.
- An unused licence can be removed from an account within 14 days of being added, providing the account has not been accessed by the candidate or business. Beyond 14 days the system will restrict this activity.
- No refund is granted where there is reason to believe the learner has viewed any of the content they purchased.
- Consumers have a 7 day cooling off period in which to cancel and receive a refund, with no reason needed. These regulations do not govern contracts between businesses.
- VideoTile Learning Ltd reserves the right to charge a handling fee of 15 percent of the original fee. Refunds are paid within 30 days of cancellation.
