What does the Manual Handling course cover?

Poor manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work, and the damage it does often builds up quietly through years of bad habits. This manual handling training course teaches your staff what correct handling actually looks like, why it matters and how to make it second nature.

The course opens by defining manual handling and explaining the Manual Handling Operations Regulations, which place duties on employers and employees alike. It then moves on to the practical side: safe lifting technique, how to build good handling habits, workable solutions to everyday handling problems and when to use a mechanical aid instead of muscle. Along the way it covers what incorrect handling does to the body and which roles carry the highest risk.

Seven modules cover roughly 75 minutes of video, each followed by a short test, with a final assessment to finish. One point worth being clear on: this is an awareness course. If your team's duties include regular manual handling, you will also want practical, hands-on training to sit alongside it. As a first step though, it gives every employee a solid understanding of the risks, the law and the technique, with a certificate issued on completion.

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations require employers to make sure staff who handle loads are trained to do so safely, including in the use of any equipment provided to help. This course covers the awareness side of that duty.

Is this course enough on its own?

Can I enrol my whole team?

Yes. We set up individual logins so each person works through the course at their own pace and earns their own certificate.
